Heat the cooking oil in a large pot over low heat, add the aromatic paste, and sauté for 5 minutes until fragrant.


Stir in the beef stew meat, soy sauce, five-spice powder, sugar, and beef stock. Cover with a lid, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 75 minutes.






Remove the lid and continue to cook for an additional 15 minutes to allow the sauce to reduce and the beef to become tender.




Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions, drain thoroughly, and divide between two serving bowls.


Ladle the beef stew over the noodles and garnish with the remaining fresh chilli, coriander leaves, and lime wedges.
