Gently fold the flour into the egg mixture using a spatula until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake until the sponge is golden and springs back when touched.

In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract using an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.




Slice the cooled sponge into layers. Assemble the cake by spreading pastry cream between the layers and topping with a large mound of whipped cream to create a dome shape.





Roll out the marzipan on a surface lightly dusted with sugar. Carefully drape the marzipan over the domed cake, smoothing it down the sides to cover the whipped cream completely.
