Arrange the seasoned yams on a baking sheet and roast in the preheated oven until tender, approximately 10 to 15 minutes.



While the yams roast, heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook until it begins to crisp.




Add the onions to the pan with the bacon and sauté until soft and translucent. Stir in the sliced apples and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.




Add the roasted yams to the frying pan and cook for 6 to 8 minutes until the edges are lightly browned and crisp. Serve immediately alongside the ham steak.
