In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.




Slowly temper the egg mixture by whisking in a small amount of the hot milk, then pour the tempered eggs back into the saucepan with the remaining milk.





Cook the custard over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, then remove from heat and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.



Process the chilled custard and fresh strawberries in a blender until smooth, then churn the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
