Add the prepared melon and chicken stock to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes until the melon is tender enough to fall apart.



Season the soup with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly before blending until smooth using an immersion blender or a standard blender.




In a separate frying pan, fry the thinly sliced ham over medium-high heat until crispy. Remove the ham and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.



Add the basil leaves to the remaining ham drippings in the pan and fry briefly until crisp. Carefully remove the leaves and drain.




Serve the soup warm or chilled, garnished with the crispy ham bits and fried basil leaves.
